Wheaton Montessori News
As many members of the Wheaton Montessori School community know, we recently took ownership of six parcels of property behind our school. Each of these parcels is designated as “wetlands” and is in need of major care and clean-up. The parcels are also a fantastic opportunity for our students to study ecology, clean water management, set up experiments, and more. Our elementary and junior high students are clamoring to get back into the natural area, but we need to ensure that they have safe “canvas” on which to work first.
On Saturday, December 2nd, a large number of Wheaton Montessori School teachers, parents and students will kick off our wetlands reclamation and clean-up project with a community work day. We plan on getting started around 10:30 a.m., just after the Preschool Open House.
If you’d like to help, please plan on joining us around 10:30 a.m., dressed for the weather and the task. During this initial clean-up, we’re hoping to focus on the larger items that have been dumped on the property over the last several years, any broken glass, and litter.
