Tracy Fortun, our Lower Elementary teacher, is offering a 3-part series on “How to Talk so Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk.” This book, written by Adele Farber and Elaine Mazlish, has been mentioned at nearly every CommuniTEA and Discovery Night and is a consistently recommended parenting book.
This national bestseller provides “insights and suggestions as well as the author’s time-tested methods to solve common problems and build foundations for lasting relationships, including innovative ways to:
· Cope with your child’s negative feelings, such as frustration, anger, and disappointment
· Express your strong feelings without being hurtful
· Engage your child’s willing cooperation…” – Simon and Schuster
Mrs. Fortun offered this series several years ago and we’ve recently had numerous requests for her to “bring it back.” She’s agreed!
The series will kick off on Tuesday, February 27th at 8:15 in our main building and will meet the following two Tuesdays, March 6th and March 13th, also at 8:15. The discussion group is open to all past, present, and future parents, as well as members of the surrounding community. Please reserve your seat here, as space is limited!
While there will be suggested reading based on the book, Mrs. Fortun stresses that while recommended, the reading is not required and should not prevent anyone from joining in the worthwhile discussion!
Please join Mrs. Mayhugh for coffee and community as she goes over your “frequently asked questions.”
