Suzanna Mayhugh is a Lower Elementary Teacher for one of our 1st-3rd classrooms at Wheaton Montessori School.
Suzanna has been teaching Lower Elementary since 2022. She is passionate about inspiring students through stories of the amazing things humans have accomplished and helping relate that to a young child’s every day, “real-world” life.
Suzanna has a degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and a Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University and has completed AMI courses in Elementary Education and Adolescent Education. When not in the classroom, you can find Suzanna enjoying traveling, reading, and knitting or spending quality time with her husband, children, and rescue dog, Zoey.
Her favorite childhood memory of school is that she loved everything about it, especially the excitement that a new year brought. There was nothing more filled with promise and potential than school supply shopping at the beginning of the year, getting a new planner and class schedule, or studying the course catalog each semester to see what the possibilities for classes would be. Her favorite chapter book is “Atlas Shrugged” and is thankful to Madame Whipkey and Carol Nester (Suzanna’s mother) for inspiring her for a career in education. She’s a fan of Thai food and Indian cuisine.
