Our students (and teachers) have always been drawn towards science and the mysteries that await discovery and investigation. This week’s solar eclipse provided a terrific opportunity for our students to see the same kind of excitement for a scientific event on a nationwide level.
Our students are still discussing Monday’s syzygy (that’s a real word). Diagrams of the eye remain on the chalkboard and are still being used by the students. Project proposals, research topics, and art projects are focused on the event as well.
Certain scientific phenomena create a major buzz in pop culture. This particular event has just increased the buzz in our already science-centric classrooms.
