REBECCA LINGO

Rebecca Lingo is Co-Founder & Head of School at Wheaton Montessori School.

Rebecca and her sister, Elizabeth Berdick, a primary teacher at the school, co-founded the school in Wheaton during the fall of 2000. She is part of an elite group of AMI educators certified to teach at all three levels: infancy/toddler, primary, and elementary. Rebecca enjoys all aspects of Montessori, and her delight in teaching children is matched by her pleasure in educating adults about Montessori. She has also served as a childbirth assistant for the children of her sister Elizabeth Berdick, lower elementary teacher Mrs. Tracy Fortun and other families.

Rebecca has an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Miami University in Ohio and an M.Ed. from Loyola College in Baltimore.

Reflecting on her elementary years, she feels thankful for all the compassionate teachers who offered hugs and kindness. One of her cherished chapter books is Ramona Quimby Age 8, a gift from her sister when she turned eight. Rebecca is a library super-user, a title bestowed on her by librarians for maximum household limits reached regularly between school and home.

In her free time, she enjoys gardening both indoors and outdoors as she is a plant enthusiast. She tends and propagates plants for her home and school. Additionally, she finds joy in encouraging children to explore new foods. She is a picky eater!
