Wheaton Montessori School

Our School

Our Mission Is to Prepare Children for Life.

We celebrate each child’s individuality and help them discover how they can best contribute to our world and culture. All children are naturally curious and love to learn; we support this innate drive by providing environments that meet children’s developmental needs, guided by a staff of loving and well-prepared adults and building a community of families that actively prioritize education.

About Wheaton Montessori

Wheaton Montessori School is a non-profit, non-denominational, non-discriminatory school that seeks to provide a unique academic curriculum for children from preschool through 15 years of age. Located in Wheaton, Illinois, Wheaton Montessori is affiliated with, and certified by, the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). AMI was founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori and is the recognized international authority on Montessori education. The registered term “AMI Montessori” signifies the highest standards applied to Montessori and is evidence of a continuing commitment on the part of the school to study, explore, and share this method of education as originally established by Dr. Montessori.

In addition, Wheaton Montessori School is recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) as a private school.

Our Campus

Our location is much more than just an address. At Wheaton Montessori School, we offer unique opportunities for learning—a private, alternative elementary education using the Montessori method.

Situated in the northwest corner of Wheaton, our private school is easily accessible from many surrounding communities. Wheaton Montessori School draws families and students from Batavia, Bloomingdale, Glen Ellyn, Lombard, Schaumburg, St. Charles, West Chicago, Wheaton, Winfield, and beyond.

Our proximity to the Prairie Path, Cosley Zoo, and Lincoln Marsh offers our students opportunities for alternative learning through outdoor education that simply cannot be found elsewhere. In addition to exciting excursions within walking distance, our location provides elementary education with “going out” experiences all over Chicagoland.

Our History

Wheaton Montessori School was founded in 2000 by sisters Elizabeth Berdick and Rebecca Lingo. Though our school has grown exponentially since our very first class of only 4 students, it remains an environment where our students, past and present, create our school community’s culture.

Traditions that date to our first handful of students continue today. Each child makes their contribution to our community’s customs and celebrations. Our students and families are our history.
