Wheaton Montessori News
For this year’s End-of-Year Gala and Silent Auction, Hafsa R. agreed to be our introductory speaker. Hafsa, the mother of two young boys, did a wonderful job starting us off in the right mood! Read on to relive the moment!
“Thank you all for joining us tonight, for the Wheaton Montessori End-of Year Gala and Silent Auction. We are so excited to have all of you here and to enjoy an evening without the people we love the most, our children.
When I was initially asked to speak, I had a hard time deciding on what I was going to say. We love Wheaton Montessori and our community, but I’ve never been able to verbalize what I love about it. Then, I saw Suzanna Mayhugh recently share something written by Mrs. Rogers, and it captures how I feel perfectly. I’m going to read it now verbatim because… why mess with perfection?
Mrs. Rogers: “Why Montessori? Because a strong Montessori community is a group of people working together to help each person become the best version of him or herself. The gift of a Montessori classroom is that children begin their education with strong bodies and strong minds, working alongside friends who know and love them almost as well as they know themselves.”
I feel so lucky that I am able to start my children’s education in such a beautiful setting and so absolutely blessed to be a part of this community.
My main job this evening… is to introduce the next speaker. This person is one of the hardest-working I’ve ever met. She’s the one who answers all our calls, especially on the first day of school and tells us the kids are doing fine. She’s also the one who responds to those late night emails within 20 minutes. She works so hard to make sure that our children have a beautiful and safe environment in which to learn and explore. I know that I’m not along in feeling this, and I want all of us to take this opportunity to show her just how much we appreciate everything she does with a big round of applause. Rebecca Lingo, everyone!”

Thank you, Hafsa, for helping us begin our night focused on our families, school, and purpose for the party!
Join Mrs. Berdick for a morning of discussion and CommuniTEA! Mrs. Berdick will be leading a parent discussion on how to build strong relationships through empathy, educating for peace, and connecting with our children.
