While trying unsuccessfully to get tickets for Hamilton in Chicago I came across a quote for the musical.
“A legacy is planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.”
A few weeks ago Elizabeth took Luke and I on a tour of the new building and as we were walking out I asked her if this is what she envisioned when the two of you first started Wheaton Montessori School. She said no, that is was beyond her wildest expectations. I said that all of you should be proud of what you have accomplished over the years. I said “you are leaving an amazing legacy for these children.” After reading the quote from the musical it got me thinking about your students. While many come back to visit with you and you get to hear about all of their accomplishments there have to be some that you wonder about. Some that move away or just don’t have time to come back and say hello. What an amazing foundation you are giving our children. Skills and knowledge that they will carry with them the rest of their lives. It must be very gratifying to all of you to know that even if you never know what these children become in life that you had a large part in their successes.
Thanks for all you do,
- Lisa M.
I remember Shalin starting at age three and now being ten what a journey it has been! I feel that small class sizes and the Montessori methods taught right has helped strengthen his skills be it social or critical thinking. In addition, his teachers Tracy and Emily have reached out to us and helped us explain what we can do as a family over the vacations to keep the same level of inquisitiveness for Shalin and improve on social skills.
An additional component that I love about the program is the overnight trips. I have had the opportunity to be a part some of these trips to observe students in the field. These trips show the reality of how well the Montessori program has instilled respect, discipline and teamwork in the students. The most recent trip to Teton Science School in Wyoming exposed the elementary students to do practical data science work out in the field learning from researchers and scientists as well as making presentations to them.
I feel that these hands-on practical learnings at Wheaton Montessori and overnight trips has had a positive impact for Shalin and will truly help him to achieve success later in life!
