Frequently Asked Questions During Tours
Categories: For Parents / General Knowledge Fund / The Montessori Difference / Visiting Wheaton Montessori
When we give prospective families tours of our classrooms, there are a few questions that always get asked. Here are a few of those frequently asked questions and our responses.
- What is the student:teacher ratio?
Because we are a true “Montessori” school, certified by AMI-USA, we keep our class sizes large! We aim for at least 25 students in each of our Primary classrooms, filled with a mix of children ages 2.5 through 6. Each Primary classroom has a head teacher and a classroom assistant.
- Why do we require 5 days for all students?
The short answer is: because our teachers won’t settle for less. The consistency that the 5-day week offers your child is invaluable to our students, our teachers, and our classroom communities. The classroom stability allows children to be comfortable, explore, and build upon each new day. Ms. Lingo often responds to this question by saying, “Both our teachers and our certification require 5-days a week; your child’s curiosity and developmental stage also need 5-days a week.”
- What is our teacher turnover rate?
Almost non-existent! Many of our teachers have been with Wheaton Montessori School since their classroom or program began.
- What kind of training do our teachers have?
All of our classroom teachers have Master’s degrees. Every classroom teacher has also undergone the intensive Association Montessori International training for his or her program.
