Wheaton Montessori News
On Monday, June 19th, students and siblings participated in an informal “Book Exchange” at Wheaton Montessori School. Students were encouraged to bring some of their own well-loved books that were in need of a new home to exchange.
Taren and Davlan, sisters and WMS Elementary students, were thrilled; they selected quite a stack to take home! They especially loved the large assortment of Ripley’s “Believe it or Not!” books, donated by the Schultz family. (Purchased year-after-year at the annual book fair, there really was an enormous stack for Taren and Davlan to sort through.) I was surprised by the choice, but the girls were extremely excited: “We love these ‘Weird but True’ books! And the ‘Believe it or Not!’ books – we have the 2016, but now we have 2015, too!”
But the biggest find for the girls was “Drama,” by Raina Telgemeier. This author is a mainstay at our Scholastic Book Fairs each year. Taren explained that she and her sister had been scouring the local libraries for this particular book. In a serendipitous moment, the book was donated just a few minutes before Taren and Davlan came to “shop” the book exchange.
